The Hype Cycle is pretty straightforward. It suggests that each new technology goes through five phases:
a) the Technology Trigger,
b) the Peak of Inflated Expectations,
c) the Trough of Disillusionment,
d) the Slope of Enlightenment, and finally
e) the Plateau of Productivity.
